We install and commission 400V to 11kV electrical distribution equipment including LV switch boards, transformers, unit substations, switchgear and associated electrical equipment.
We also offer a complete portable appliance testing service ( PAT testing ) to ensure businesses meet their UK legal requirements for portable appliances.
Portable Apliance Testing - is an essential part of a company's or individuals resposibility to Health and Safety. PAT testing is carried out using a series of specialised electrical tests on your appliances.
PAT testing is a statutory requirement and insurance companies will require the insured to comply with current regulations. The regulations are complex, but in simple terms you are required to ensure that equipment is safe and maintained so as to prevent as far as reasonably practicable such danger.
Who needs PAT testing ? - Any business, large, small, office based, shops, schools, hospitals, clinics, mobile craftsmen, engineers, installation teams, construction sites, hire equipment providers, landlords, in fact all environments except the home !
Dont forget, many other establishments also require PAT testing, including, Student accommodation, Trade Fairs, Market Traders, part time businesses maybe Photography, Video, DJ's, mobile Hairdressing. If it plugs in, in a work or public environment then you need it tested !
Why bother ? - UK legislation requires it ( Health and Safety at work ) ! Insurance companies will require it ! Sleeping at night helps as well !
What is a Portable Appliance ? - Any appliance plugged in to a normal 3 pin electrical socket, fixed or portable, any extension lead used with other appliances. All 110 volt tools and appliances.
How often do I need to test ? - There is no absolute rule on testing frequency, generally a period of 12 months is acceptable for most environments, with the exception of workshop portable tools and equipment that is more prone to damage. This should be considered for testing at 3 or 6 month intervals.
We can test large quantities of items or small quantities, if it is more convenient to you, maybe as a mobile Engineer or Tradesmen bring your appliances to me for test.
Who should carry out the testing ? - A competent inspector, qualified to City and Guilds 2377.
